United Conveyor Corporation Successfully Commissions Two Dry Sorbent Injection Systems for Midwestern Utility

Waukegan, IL, July 1, 2016—United Conveyor Corporation (UCC), a global leader in abrasive material handling and air pollution control technology, announced today that two large Dry Sorbent Injection (DSI) Systems have been fully commissioned at a major Midwestern Utility to ensure SO2 reduction requirements are met.

These innovative systems are designed to optimize sorbent use, while achieving stringent emissions regulations. The project scope included patented UCC COBRATM Lances and VIPER® Mills, splitters with auto purge features, truck unloading systems with blowers, chillers and dehumidifiers, along with additional system upgrades. Computational Fluid Dynamic (CFD) modeling of the plant duct was also conducted to enhance sorbent distribution.

“UCC DSI systems represent the latest technology for SO2, SO3 and HCI removal”, said Jon Norman, Sales and Technology Manager of United Conveyor Corporation. “UCC continues to invest in air pollution control technologies that provide optimal, cost-effective results and most importantly, systems, products and service that our customers can rely on.”

Engineering and material supply was completed at the UCC headquarters in Waukegan, Illinois. The systems met all performance guarantees and are now fully operational.
